Plum, dark chocolate, coffee grounds and Christmas spices take centre stage initially before being joined by black pepper, paperbark, orange pith and earthy tones. The amalgam, following some time to settle in the glass, works nicely. The palate is juicy and without too much weight, with a mid-toned fruit profile. The tannins are pliable and grainy, the finish juicy and with solid length. This is nicely ripe without going into jammy territory, and while quite approachable now, will do well with shorter term ageing. A reliable release that earns its place at the table without needing to shout about it.
