The Moppa district of the Barossa and cabernet sauvignon is an unusual combination with rich and brooding shiraz generally considered the local star. This cabernet absolutely reflects that Moppa style with dense, tannic fruit but also shows plenty of cabernet personality. Deeply coloured, there is rich, sweet cassis fruits with an attractive leafy edge that brightens up the line of deep, dark fruit. The palate is then dry and fleshy, but again cabernet structure is clear thanks to juicy acidity and chewy tannins that help to sustain a long and surprisingly elegant finish. It’s a good Barossa cabernet with the staying power to drink well for up to ten years.
