Hare’s Chase Mataro Rosé 2025

Share

Mataro, or Mourvèdre if one wants to be a little more trendy, has proved itself a most versatile variety, largely seen in red blends, occasionally solo, a contributor to fortifieds and perhaps most excitingly, fresh, dry, complex Rosé’s. If the chaos in the Middle East has made you rethink that trip to France, a bottle or two of this in the sun by the pool and you’ll think you’re sitting by the Mediterranean. All you need now is a great Bouillabaisse. From Barossa fruit. A very pale orange hue, this is very much at the dry end of the spectrum with appealing aromas of florals, orange rinds, grapefruit pith and cherries. There is good energy here and a fine line of acidity gives an appealingly succulent juiciness. Focused and refreshing, enjoy this over the next three to four years.
