Harewood Estate Tunney Riesling 2021

Share

While Harewood Estate offer a range of very fine wines across a range of styles, it is surely their regional Rieslings which most excite (well they most excite me, if that counts). This Tunney is from the Frankland region, from a single vineyard – the most northerly vineyard in the Great Southern. Free run juice only then a lengthy ferment at cooler temperatures, in stainless steel, with minimal filtering. A bright yet pale yellow colour. This is lemon fresh (wasn’t there an old tv advert for something that was lemon fresh?). It is a bright, welcoming style. Think lemon sorbet but also with a hint of marzipan. A lovely nose. This is backed up on the palate with vibrant acidity underneath the excellent length. There is a note of bitter almond on the finish, which helps tie it all up. The highlight for me is the gorgeous nose. The palate is simply taking a little longer to put everything together, but it is well on the way. Good future here.
