Haselgrove McLaren Vale Barbera 2023

Share

Part of the team’s Alternative Series, which involves small quantities of wines from McLaren Vale which reflect what one might enjoy around the Mediterranean (or perhaps a little bit further afield). Whole berries straight to the fermenter with no crushing, adding to the exuberance of the wine. Twelve days fermenting while hand plunged twice daily, before nine months in older French oak with just 700 cases made. Delicious and terrific value. Purple/maroon hue, the nose gives us blackberries, florals, tar and chocolate, with cloves and soy notes emerging more on the palate. Supple, bright and full of energy, there is a line of fresh acidity. Great drinking over the next three years.
