This Heathcote region really does seem to suit this famous Piedmont variety. In particular, one of the features is the management of the tannins, which can often be a little excessive in Australian examples, but in this case, they sit absolutely harmoniously. Yes, there’s some firmness there, but it’s all held together with perfect harmony and just the right balance. The aromas are typical of the variety with loads of crushed red berry florals, a little rose petal, and some slightly minerally ironstone savoury characters. The palate really does capture the Nebbiolo style. The colour is not deep, but there is plenty of power and concentration here delivered with that impeccable elegance and stylishness that marks the best Nebs. A most beautiful example of this variety and so promising for the future in Australia.
