Following on from the generosity and richness associated with the ’21 vintage of Marble Angel, expect a more restrained, finely-tuned angel in ’22. It remains a 100 per cent, single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from Light Pass in the Barossa Valley, and it comes with an equal amount, possibly more, ageing ability than the previous release such is its more streamlined, linear expression. It’s a gently restrained Cabernet in character but still explores a richness of varietal intensity in Aussie bush notes, leaf, black pepper, crushed herbs, spice and earth surrounding a solid core of black fruits and plum fruit. Fine tannins produce a tightly formed linear wine layered, eloquent, and with great potential for further ageing. I would wait a little longer before broaching. And yes, I know it’s a hard ask.
