Hentley Farm H-Block Shiraz Cabernet 2018

I love the felt label on this wine – it hints at the wine’s seductive side. The vineyards were planted by Otto Kasper on the banks of Greenock Creek and essentially it is Clos Otto grade Shiraz blended with the finest cabernet sauvignon from Hentley Farm, and it shows, particularly in the hot 2018 vintage.

Black as night colour and beautiful aromas – blackberry, blackcurrant, some dried herbs and top quality oak all seamlessly blended together. Pure aromas burst from the glass with impressive vitality. In the mouth it takes a more savoury turn – black pepper, tar, liquorice, warm granite again beautifully interwoven with oak. It’s then long and strong – tannins rich but balanced and with a silky, but sturdy, long finish. A very Barossan example of the classic Australian blend and will cellar beautifully.
