For what is usually described as a Rhône-style blend, although I would argue it now holds just as important a place in Australian viniculture, and a lot of Australian wine drinkers wouldn’t know where the Rhône is, let alone what grapes are grown there. Sourced from vineyards dating back to 1800s, with an average age of 75 years, we see the blend of 46% Grenache, 33% Shiraz and 21% Mourvèdre. Medium garnet/ruby colour. Attractive amalgam of red fruits, dried spice, nuts, chocolate, rose petals, woody clove and a fresh cotton sheet cleanliness. Brightly fruited and underpinned by fine, sandy tannins. Jubey, medium weight with a tight, persistent tail. Delicious!
