Hewitson Ned & Henry’s Shiraz 2023

Share

The aim here is to produce a full-flavoured Barossa Shiraz, which is a joy to drink when approached young but which could also age for a decade at least. Maturation was in French oak. Named after Dean’s sons. A dark maroon colour, the plushness is present from the first moment. There are notes of chocolate and mocha, coffee beans, herbs, blackberries, cocoa powder and a hint of blueberries. This is ripe, dense but ever-so-well balanced. There is impressive length here, finishing with very fine-grained tannins. Delicious now and it should continue to be so for the next decade. Like this a lot.
