Yering Station Reserve Shiraz Viognier 2020

The thing about shiraz and viognier is that it’s easy to overdo the viognier and create a gingery apricot dominant wine that loses the essential shiraz character. This is not one of those. It is an exquisite example of how to do it well, in fact really well. Loads of black fruits immediately evident with a slightly ferrous ironstone character, especially on the dry palate. Fine minerally tannins provide a structural core around which the succulent shiraz wraps itself. Bright and so vital with a sustained finish.
