The title “Ungrafted refers to 100 year plus old vine sourcing, so we’re in good stead to start, with sensitive attention all the way – hand-picked to preserve fruit integrity, and inclusion of some whole grape cluster to provide bushy notes within an otherwise aromatic and palate matrix of black cherry, dark spice, dark soy and milk chocolate creaminess. Drinking is a special pleasure via the seamlessness of old vine fruit and maturation in old French oak which shows no timber impact apart from some woody spice adding seasoning to a fine dusting of tannins in the savoury finish. The wine benefits from a good few hours of decanting, and suggests a healthy lifespan ahead.
