Hoosegg Seven Heaven Chardonnay 2017

Philip Shaw made his name at industry icon Rosemount and while there discovered the potential of Orange, and ever since has been honing his craft and understanding of how to get the very best from this region. Enter Hoosegg, and his Seven Heaven Chardonnay. It was chardonnay that really put Rosemount on the international map and you can see traces of that style here.

Bright pale golden and the wine displays layer after layer of complex and detailed fruits – precise melon and citrus with oatmeal barrel ferment supported by high quality French oak, which are all beautifully integrated. The palate is then dry and voluptuous but also punctuated by a line of drying, tangy acidity – powerful toasty oak coming through more on a long finish to please old school chardonnay fans while still carrying the finer detail of top quality cool climate wines. You’d be hard pressed to find a better Orange chardonnay.
