Ironcloud Wines The Alliance Chardonnay 2019

Margaret River gets all the praise for chardonnay but don’t discount Ferguson Valley near Bunbury, especially if you like your wines on the creamy side, and I suspect that plenty of people do.

It is not massive but does have more of the tropical tones than you see in Margaret River. Pale golden in colour, there is a wide array of sweet and savoury aromas – generous mango and rockmelon fruits are beautifully woven into some more savoury high quality oak and cashew aromas. That power translates onto the rounded palate where fruit is underscored by this region’s silky acidity to drive a long and satisfying finish. There is plenty of spicy oak too but it suits the overall style and personality perfectly. A huge crowd pleaser here that screams out for local Marron with a butter sauce.
