I first came across Kirrihill wines whilst working as a sommelier at Aria in Sydney. They struck me by their consistency and flavour intensity. This is a blend of 87% shiraz and 13% mataro, and is a powerful little number from the well regarded Schobers Vineyard. Loving the smokey undertones alongside the blueberry pie and black forest cake characters. Acidity is vibrant and cleansing against some pretty brooding qualities and powdery tannins. Great drinking; home-made vegetarian lasagne on the cards with this one!
