Kirrihill Wines E.B. Gleeson The Squire Shiraz 2020

Share

Kirrihill have made a name for themselves in the value stakes but wines like this show that they can also deliver at the pointy end of the spectrum. Opaque in colour, this is a classically brooding Clare style that is robust with aromas of dark slate, blackberry and licorice allsorts with generous oak which sits nicely in the package. There is impressive density to the palate thanks to a tightly packed core of dark cherry fruits with a meaty underbelly of spice, sage, and roasted meats all well supported by muscular tannins. Impressive balance and a long, strong finish round out an exceptional package that will be at its best in around a decade.
