Leconfield Shiraz 2022

The ‘first’ famous red variety from Coonawarra, although its reputation has long since been surpassed by Cabernet Sauvignon. It still makes some stunning wines in the region, providing great drinking, and this is one of them. A very dark intense purple hue, the nose here is redolent of cocoa powder, blackcurrants, herbs, bruised plums and very dark chocolate. The oak is deftly handled and adds a degree of sophistication to the wine. A sleek texture with fine but firm tannins with good length, this has excellent balance, focus and impressive intensity. Eight years.
