Logan Ridge of Tears Orange Shiraz 2022

Winemaking is similar (almost identical) to the Mudgee Ridge of Tears Shiraz, but the Orange fruit shows more vibrancy with pert red fruits: rose hip, sour cherry, redcurrant and fleshier red plum skin. There’s vanillin oak, and dark, charry chocolate tones too. I love the ferrous, smoked meat tones. On the palate, this fares similarly to the Mudgee Shiraz. Fruit feels soft and macerated, yet pulpy tea leaf tannins hold shape, as does the flavour and fruit. I get the sense of the whole bunch, with a slight stemmy, sappy element. A savoury finish, with firmer, if slightly drying tannins. Wonderful natural acidity.
