From the 2.7 hectare Home Block on the Manata Vineyard in Central Otago, first planted in 2000, with Burgundian clones. French barriques for ten months, 35% new. The wine is a barrel selection. Only 214 six-packs made.
The pale red colour belies the explosion of flavour to follow. Mushrooms, spices, dry herbs, dark berries, some compost notes (in a good way). Even with all that, it is more complex and subtle than many Pinots from Central Otago. Juicy acidity, a seamless style with excellent length. Good future.
