We are deeply immersed here in the Mitolo family’s Italian ways – the name referring to this wine’s source – a single 500 metre row in their Whites Valley district vineyard towards the Gulf St Vincent in the Sellicks Hills area. The colour is encouragingly light red, the bouquet in the crimson cherry with Middle Eastern spice mode, along with crackled and sun-dried forest and bark, all of which remain in the palate with purposeful acid lines and grip entering the fray midway. Plenty to get into here, and all the better with spicy dishes, Asian, Middle Eastern or Italian.
