The Italian background of the maker shines here, producing a tantalising touch of preserved lemon savouriness. Indeed, a lemony citrus quality dominates this lean style of Chardonnay. Picked early, it might be a product of the vintage or the chosen style of the winemaker or a bit of both. Grapefruit pith, lemon zest, preserved lemon and yellow apple notes work their way across the wine. Light and zesty, the middle palate offers a big, savoury, lemony hug dressed in tart lemony acidity. Some further time in bottle will probably suit those who aren’t into high acidity.
