The Italian varieties are a key part of the Mitolo family portfolio, centred around their vineyards in the Whites Valley district in the south-western corner of the McLaren Vale region. Here the Sicilian in the crew is not shy in any terms, ripe and succulent with concentrated red berry vibes, as if dried, and a tar and dark rose aromatic line nose to tail, with some savoury dried flower senses as well, almost potpourri. It drinks with a bit of attitude, tannins on the sappy to sticky side. Demands a plate of braised game and pasta.
