Mt. Bera Amphitheatre Blaufrankisch 2024

Blaufrankisch is a rather obscure red from Europe which has, until recently, been largely the preserve of a single grower in the Adelaide Hills in this country. Niche it may be, but it has proved an exciting addition to the Aussie pantheon of grapes. This one will only add to its lustre. A gleaming purple hue, this is young, fresh and quite vibrant with notes of cherry, chocolate, cassis, mulberries, cigar boxes and dried herbs. This is delicious drinking with soft, silky tannins and bright acidity, through to a lingering finish. There is focus and direction. A wine which should drink impressively for at least the next five years. Great stuff.
