Oates Ends Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2019

WINNER of a Winepilot Trophy for the greatest value wines in Australia.

Blended white wines from Margaret River often get forgotten. Before the world discovered Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, these were the country’s favourite crisp dry white wines. Generally bright and full of tropical fruit, they make a great Summer drink.

But the best of these wines have plenty more to offer, when they are made in a style similar to the great white wines of Bordeaux. There are not too many winemakers in Margaret River really shooting for the stars in this style but when they do the results can be brilliant. And that’s exactly what we have here – a superbly complex and elegant mix of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.

The wine is immediately herbal, but in a good way. Fresh picked herb aromas are matched by powerful guava, a touch of lavendar plus old oak. It is then dry and concentrated on an acid driven palate, with complex lanolin and lemon curd fruits that are subtle with understated power. Great mix of fruit and youthful vitality make it a delicious wine to enjoy over the next five years. You can find all the Oates Ends wines here.
