Oates Ends Tempranillo 2018

Share

Tempranillo is one of those grapes where winemakers around the country are still searching for the local holy grail – where it will produce the best wines. Canberra, McLaren Vale and the Alpine Valleys are showing plenty of potential and you can now add Margaret River to the mix with this wine from Oates Ends showing flavours similar to the wines from Spain.

It is quite deep in colour and shows a delicious mix of spicy strawberry fruits, some spice with a touch of damp earth which is all matched with toasty oak. It is then dry, and fleshy with an acid tang plus power and generous but soft tannins. It is also concentrated and finishes long so will appeal to fans of Tempranillo but also anyone looking for a mid-weight red to match up with something a little meaty, like lamb kofta. You can find all the Oates Ends wines here.
