Oliver’s Taranga RW Grenache 2021

Share

Grenache has shown itself to be a champion variety of McLaren Vale and this beauty is a prime example. It smells like intensely perfumed roses and violets, ripe red cherries and fragrant vanilla pod. There’s freshly sliced fennel adding a hint of anise and the mineral buzz of rock pools in the midday sun. Such bright, pure fruit with perfectly fresh, juicy cherries and plums, strawberries and cream, and tangy freeze-dried raspberries. There are ripe tannins, a reasonable amount for Grenache, adding a pencil shaving savour, and refreshing acidity. Just a playful puppy of a wine with a long and exciting life ahead.
