Deep and intense aromas of dark cherry, tar, nutmeg, and tilled earth brood in the glass before a good swirl of the glass opens up sweeter notes of raspberry compote and ripe red florals to fill it out. The palate is still so tightly wound and aching to unleash to compete with its muscular structure. Dark cherry, red liquorice, nutmeg, earth, raspberry. It’s all there, but it’s coiled tight within walls of powdery tannins and cherry laced acidity. The finish is very long with that bright acid backbone cleansing and lengthening. It’s nervy and hard edged right now, but this wine will be a lesson in the rewards of patience. A brilliant release.
