Patrick of Coonawarra Grande Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Aged Cabernet is one of life’s greatest pleasures, particularly when it’s as good as the Grande Reserve. Now at its peak, this wine is a delight from start to finish, the nose presenting itself beautifully with pronounced aromas of a long list of characters: ink, blackcurrant, vanilla, game, dried black fruits, dark chocolate, sawdust, coffee, truffle and cigar box. These prepare you for what is a glorious palate, rich and concentrated yet still fresh and vibrant, showing immense balance and drying, integrated tannins. The flavours linger, prolonging the time until you need to take another sip, turning the wine into an event in itself. This is Coonawarra Cabernet at its finest, and it is worth every cent. Pair it with the best cut of meat, such as eye fillet or a lamb roast, and watch it cut through the fat and heighten your meal.
