Penfolds Bin 150 Marananga Shiraz 2019

The long, dry 2019 Barossa Summer is on display here in this dense concentrated Shiraz. The colour is opaque with the glass overflowing with blueberry, blackberry and licorice aromas; 12 months in American oak on show but beautifully balanced with its decadent fruits. What follows is a robust and dense palate – lashings of luscious sweet fruit supported by blocky oak and fruit tannins. There is also a brightness and freshness to the fruit although overall it feels a little structure heavy at the moment before proceeding to a very long finish. It is not a wine of delicacy and finesse but will appeal to fans of decadent Australian Shiraz.
