Pepper Tree Limited Release Shiraz 2019

Let’s hear it for the grower, the winemaker and, above all, the Orange wine region. There are quite a few deft hands – including Mother Nature – involved in the making of this Shiraz. A fine balance is reached, and it makes for quite an arresting drink. It speaks fluently of the quality of the grapes and some sensitive winemaking from the brightness of the blue fruits, red berries and vanilla scents through to the fully integrated melding of flavours on the palate. Satiny texture, plenty of ripe fruits on display with a feature made of woody spice, cinnamon, clove and light smoky notes. I’d call it a ‘pretty’ wine but that’s not PC. Let’s call it elegant instead. One to savour.
