A touch of peach schnapps is quickly occluded by buttered toast and bacon fat first off, somewhat delivering on the promise of the name. Further notes fill out the wine with air, namely marzipan, a nutty nuance, kumquat and peach skin. The palate is round and pleasingly rich, holding notes of toast, lemon butter and bacon fat again though with more fruit presence featuring peach and kumquat again with some preserved lemon bite beneath. While it’s bold and buttery, it’s not ponderous nor overt. There’s balance, and through the finish this is helped along by a freshening line of pithy acidity. Good bang for your buck
