Pikes Clare Valley Riesling Traditional 2021

Share

Here’s a Riesling from the Clare Valley with a little extra bottle age, and it’s just starting to show what it can do. On the nose, there’s a very fine, slightly toasty character, with buttered marmalade influences, but still with a lemony zip. The palate is still light-bodied but is starting to show some lovely development, albeit with some years still to go. It’s a terrific wine that shows the bridge between the really youthful and the more mature, striking somewhere in between, which is just about where I like to drink these wines. A terrific example of the style and the variety.
