Pikes Il Premio Sangiovese 2022

A wine with a strong link to the vineyard. Pikes have been growing Sangiovese since 1993 and believe it is now their most important red variety. That’s some statement. The colour is quite brilliant and the aroma is stacked with lively red fruits of spicy plum and raspberry with a touch of cranberry. The palate is smooth and supple with its medium body carrying through effortlessly to a sustained finish. A slightly tarry character adds complexity and finish to the palate while the oak has been beautifully laced into the fruit.
