Pindarie T.S.S Tempranillo Sangiovese Shiraz 2021

The leading act for the 2021 T.S.S is the Tempranillo (70%) which takes centre stage with vibrancy of perfume and then some dark black fruit grunt – think black olive tapenade and black cherries. The Sangiovese components play a strong supporting role, showing typicity in style offering some soft tannic grip and zesty acidity. The Shiraz lifts the performance and gives some roundness and sweetness to the fruit, like a gentle cuddle, with mulberry, blueberry and black pepper with silky tannins and some immediate drinking appeal. The three components are vinified separately with some smart use of French oak, and as a unit are a strong act in the line-up. Great to see some more abstract blends coming through and delivering delicious drinking! Definitely pairing this with an aged cheddar that’s firm and super salty.
