Lovely dark-cherry and raspberry fruit on first look, quickly backed by rose, nutmeg spice, oregano, anise and a terracotta edge. I like the mix of fruit and savouriness here. The palate is mid-weight, buoyant and bright, with glossy texture wrapping around raspberry, red cherry, rose and nutmeg again, along with brown spice and subtle cherry-liqueur notes gliding through. The tannins are firm and powdery with good integration, putting up a bitter dark-chocolate-infused frame through a finish of solid length. There’s a lot of wine here for $30.
