I never tire of trying Heathcote Shiraz as it straddles that middle ground between cool and warm, producing wines with typical Shiraz character but generally without the high alcohol. The 2024 McIvor Estate is a case in point: beautiful characters of mulberry, blackberry, pepper, smoke and chocolate, with dusty tannins and a juicy and salty palate, coming in at 13.8% alcohol. It’ll keep cellaring for at least 5 years and I’d recommend pairing it with something like a lamb roast, rich curry or a tender steak.
