Pt. Leo Estate Reserve Pinot Noir 2018

Visit Pt. Leo Estate and you can see everything has been thrown into this project – sculpture park, restaurant, and of course winery and vineyard too. The same for this Reserve Pinot Noir with all the signs there for some serious quality around the corner and this is a good effort from the hot 2018 vintage. It is quite delicate in colour but don’t let that fool you as there is a beautifully pure core of fruits – bright raspberry, earth and spice plus some significant vanillin oak that needs a little time to come into better balance. Dry and mid weight, the palate is much more hearty and savoury taking a journey from dried herbs and spice through to tobacco all underpinned by raspberry and cranberry fruits plus supple tannins. Lots to like here especially when matched with a Portugese rabbit stew.
