RockBare RB1 Barossa Valley Single Vineyard Shiraz 2017

Share

RockBare is a collaboration between the two wine families – the Valmorbida family from Australia and California’s Jackson family. The RB1 is their pinnacle shiraz – sourced from a single vineyard in Marananga, and speaks of its vintage.

It is a deeply coloured, big red and is in a good place right now at four years of age. There is the classic, bold blackberry and mulberry fruits with a fair dose of balanced oak thrown in. There is also some mellowed aged complexity too – asian spices and cedar adding delicacy to compete the picture. The palate is rich and fleshy – oak tannins adding a backbone to draw out its finish. It’s a chunky red that also delivers on subtlety and would be best with barbecued lamb cutlets.
