Schubert The Golden Goose Late Harvest Viognier 2021

As well as providing a small component of the ‘Lone Goose’, the team make this sweeter style of Viognier from late harvested grapes. The colour is a pineapple gold hue. We have an evocative and lifted nose with notes of beeswax, apricots, ginger, glacéd lemon, stone fruits and honey. There is notable sweetness, but it is cleverly held in check and we have a clean, balanced finish without any of the cloying that can bedevil this style. There is impressive length here and the final wine is quite delicious. Drink anytime over the next six to eight years.
