Tapanappa Foggy Hill Pinot Noir 2021

Share

This wine practically leaps out of the glass, offering superb complexity from day one while retaining that fragrant, understated style seen in the best wines from the Foggy Hill Vineyard. It’s moreish with pretty cranberry and mushroom aromas lifted by intriguing stalky dried herb and tobacco accents that draw you in. It’s then juicy and bright, with mixed red fruit flavours plus wafts of star anise and Chinese Five spice. For such an initially seductive wine, there is also surprising structure underneath that keeps a savoury feel while drawing out a long, balanced finish. This is really quite serious and deserves at least five years aging to really hit its straps.
