Shanahan’s Wines The Barking Dog Grenache Shiraz Mataro 2025

Share

What a great-value GSM blend this wine is. It’s sourced from two important sub-regions within the Barossa, Greenock and Marananga, so it carries some distinctive regional influences. There’s a slightly rustic earthiness here, with a touch of graphite that is immensely appealing and complements the bright, juicy red fruits. Perfumed aromas of bright red fruit and plums, with a little liquorice and slightly sage-like characters. The palate is soft and quite supple, with those additional complexities from the sub-regions working neatly into the vibrant red fruits. The oak influence is minimal, so this is all about presenting fruit purity, which works really well. An immensely appealing wine for drinking over the next five or six years.
