This comes from the soils of Marananga in the Barossa Valley, and it’s such a good expression of the region and this vintage. The colour is a deep, inky black. The aroma immediately captivates with its intensity and drive. It shows slightly more cherry-like characters than you might expect, but there’s also a blue and black fruit influence. The palate is incredibly powerful, with depth and intensity. Sure, it’s a wine of tremendous concentration, but it delivers its payload with such effortless, stylish grace. Delicious, rich black fruits feature on the palate, along with fine, gossamer-like tannins and just the right oak influence to complement them. A first-rate wine.
