St Hugo Eden Valley Chardonnay 2023

This fine Chardonnay which has resulted from whole bunch pressed fruit, which was then fermented and matured in a mix of new and older French oak barrels. A gleaming deep straw colour here; the nose exhibits spices, hints of cashews, a flick of oak/nutmeg which is still in the process of integration. Showing medium length, the palate moves more to stonefruits and figs. Well structured with balance, the wine is still in the process of shedding its puppy fat, but expect a very fine Chardonnay to emerge. Should provide good drinking for the next five to seven years.
