Old potpourri melds with black cherry, raspberry tea and flickering ground coffee before more savoury tones emerge — tilled earth and an umami-flecked porcini note lending irresistible appeal. The palate has a lovely sense of levity: intense and flavoursome without heaviness. Red fruits lead — raspberry, cherry and redcurrant — with a burst of red florals adding prettiness, followed by raspberry tea and dried floral tones that linger before tight, fine-grained tannins frame the wine and drive it to a long, red-fruited finish. There’s real poise, complexity and interest here. Wonderfully modern in expression while remaining unmistakably of place. Excellent.
