Stoney Rise Tradition 2023

Savagnin 75%, Chardonnay 25%. Lemon-gold in colour with a slight haze. The nose is packed with tarragon and lemon myrtle, with notes of quality honey adding a heady sweet tone. There’s some yellow peach and lemon thyme that intermingle nicely, along with flickers of bergamot tea. The palate is round with a rich, Chardonnay-like texture. Yellow apple, yellow peach, grilled nuts, tarragon and lemon myrtle flow through. It’s powerful and rich but also fresh and vibrant, with tightly packed chalky phenolics putting up frame and draw to excellent length. Nutty tones and rich fruit notes see out the close. I love the balance of power and tension here. Clearly Joe Holyman has a good hold on both of these varieties.
