Straight Up by Phillip Moraghan Pinot Noir 2020

Share

The Yarra Valley was not the easiest place for making wine in 2020. But when the winemaking is taken care of by Phillip Moraghan, you are still in good hands. It is an interesting wine this although there is not much to go around unfortunately. It is not overly typical of the Yarra Valley thanks to the season – its much more autumnal. Dried leaf, earthy and tobacco aromas are supported by a strong core of sappy sour cherry fruits – it is definantly more savoury than sweet. It is followed by a dry, juicy, silky and complex palate with light tannins that help to support a lingering herbal finish. There’s plenty to like and it certainly showcases the intriguing side of this variety.
