This feels as though East meets West here with the fragrance of red cherries wrapped with blackberries and dark figs, then some cassis and nettle surging up form the Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s hearty with some meaty notes of charcuterie and then the medium bodied nature of the Hunter Valley region. A very easy to drink wine that is in a very sweet spot, feeling plush in tannins and taut with fresh acidity. All round an excellent example of the Aussie Claret blend. I’d give it another 5-8 years in the cellar and no doubt still be impressed. Serve with an excellent homemade family beef pie and mash.
