Teakle Riesling 2024

Share

This comes from the Teakle property in Port Lincoln which has a soil combination of rich combination of sandy loam topsoil overlying a friable red-brown clay loam subsoil. It’s quite pretty in its floral lift straight off the bat. Orange blossom and jasmine sit above Makrut lime skin, kumquat, lemon in water, mandarin pith and a savoury saline twang. The palate is zesty and bright with notes of lemon, mandarin skin, lime and orange blossom again before a firm line of zesty acidity holds sway and draws it to good length through the finish. There’s a lot of zesty Australian Riesling in this price point, and while this holds those notes in good measure, it also has a lovely floral spectrum that adds dimension. A wonderful example at $32.
