The Ethereal One Vermentino 2021

Vermentino has huge potential in Australia. The popularity of ‘all things Italian’ is ever increasing and the variety adapts well to dry hot conditions, retaining its freshness. This wine is pristine, succulent and bursting in flavour. It opens up nicely with citrus blossom and freshly cut grapefruit, showing immediate fruit forward appeal. On the palate it is silky and slippery revealing flavours of honeydew melon and ripe mandarin. I truly enjoyed the ‘wavy’ drive on the palate. The acidity is energetic, giving it a fruity character. It interacted beautifully with the Thai chicken green curry I prepared to match. The aromatic spices and chilli further increased the heat provided by the curry itself. This washed down nicely with the mouth-watering acidity of the wine, cleansing the palate and providing a sense of satisfaction. A great value Vermentino that showcases the promising future of this variety.
