Thicker Than Water Omerta Shiraz 2023

Share

This comes from a very low-yielding McLaren Vale block from a season that produced some quality Shiraz. The batches were kept separate during fermentation with the three different yeasts, of which one was an indigenous yeast. It’s all been designed to generate complexity and texture, and it’s done that quite beautifully. After fermentation, it spent thirty-four months in French oak, predominantly new. Loads of dark plummy rich chocolate fruit on the nose, a little blackberry, and then a palate which delivers with an unctuous richness and concentration on multiple layers. It’s a powerhouse wine, but it’s also controlled and seamlessly integrated with a potential for extended cellaring. It holds nothing back.
